中意人寿保险有限公司成立于2002年，由中国石油天然气集团有限公司（CNPC）和意大利忠利保险有限公司（ASSICURAZIONI GENERALI）合资组建，是中国加入世界贸易组织后首家获准成立的中外合资保险公司。2016年9月，中方股东中国石油天然气集团有限公司将其持有的50%股权无偿划转给中国石油集团资本有限责任公司。
中意人寿辽宁省分公司成立于2007年12月，触角延伸至沈阳、盘锦、鞍山、丹东、抚顺、本溪、营口等7个地市，建立了个险营销、银行保险、团体保险、产融业务、经纪代理5个渠道。

Generali China Life Insurance Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “GCL”), founded in 2002 as a joint-venture between China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. (Generali Group), was the first Sino-foreign joint-ventured insurer approved by the Chinese Government after China's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). In September 2016, the Chinese shareholder, CNPC, transferred 50% of its equity interest in GCL to CNPC Capital Company Limited (CNPC Capital) without compensation.
GCL Liaoning branch was established in December, 2007,which extended to 7 cities including Shenyang, Panjin, Anshan, Dandong, Fushun, Benxi and Yingkou, developed 6 channels including KA,BA, GB, CB and GA.
